 General Raheel Sharif  visited Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), country’s premier arms and ammunition manufacturing facility in Wah Cantt Punjab.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations , media wing of the Pakistan Army Latest, COAS was given detailed briefing by Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayat, Chairman POF, about performance of the Industrial complex and future expansion plans.
During his visit to the POF, Pakistan Army Chief inaugurated the new Ammunition Plant as part of the expansion Plan.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the POF is the premier defense industry of Pakistan making invaluable contributions to sustain combat worthiness of Pakistan’s armed forces.

He appreciated the POF efforts to meet requirement of arms and ammunition for ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb.


General Raheel Sharif might possibly serve as the 1st Coalition Commander in Chief of the Counterterrorism force made up of 34 Muslim countries after his retirement. This coalition will have the capabilities to operate in all member Muslim countries to protect them from the threat of terrorism and insurgency to ensure peace and stability in the Muslim world.






Namaz-e-Janaza of Lieutenant General (Retired) Sahibzada Yaqoob Khan (Ex Foreign Minister of Pakistan) was held today at Army Grave Yard near Racecourse ground Rawalpindi. ‪#‎COAS‬ General Raheel Sharif and large numbers of high ranking civil and military officials and people from all fields of life offered the Namaz-e-Janaza.

Pakistan Navy ship reaches Sri Lanka today

In a manifestation of the strong political, diplomatic, economic, cultural, and defence ties between the two friendly countries, Pakistan Navy ship Shamsheer will reach Sri Lanka on a four-day goodwill visit from November 30 to December 3.

Pakistan Navy ships pay port calls to Sri Lanka on frequent basis, with the aim to further strengthen the existing strong relationship between the two countries, said a statement issued on Sunday. Shamsheer is a special type of sabre with a 5-15 degree curve from top to tip. Swords are considered a symbol of valour for Muslims. The first ship of the class inducted in the Pakistan Navy was HMPS Shamsheer (F-252), which was inherited at the time of independence.

It served Pakistan Navy as an anti-submarine frigate as well as training ship for cadets and sailors till 1960. The second ship was a Leander class ASW Frigates (F-263) acquired from the British Royal Navy in July 1988 and served the Pakistan Navy till July 2002. The present naval ship was launched on October 31, 2008 and was commissioned in the Pakistan Navy on December 19, 2009. The ship sailed for her maiden passage for the homeland on December 25, 2009. During their stay at Colombo, the officers and men of the Pakistan Navy would also take part in various professional activities with the Sri Lanka Navy.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have strong defence ties and both navies engage in multifaceted cooperation. The Pakistan Navy personnel provide a number of conventional training courses to their Sri Lankan counterparts, while the Sri Lanka Navy shares its experience and expertise with regard to anti-terrorism operations at sea.

‪#‎COAS‬ visited Pakistan’s Centre of Excellence for Nuclear Security (PCENS) and witnessed its state of the art facilities and ongoing training activities.
While lauding the high standards of professionalism and commitment of the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) security forces, entrusted with safeguarding Pakistan’s Strategic assets, COAS expressed full confidence in Pakistan’s nuclear security regime. While interacting with officers and troops, he expressed that the nuclear security is a sacred responsibility and that, “I am glad to see that it has instilled as a culture and the progress made in the recent past was praiseworthy”.
As a responsible nuclear weapon state, Pakistan has taken several measures, including setting up of the PCENS, to strengthen its nuclear security regime, at par with international best practices. Pakistan has also offered this Centre of Excellence as a regional and international hub for imparting nuclear security education and training to the international community. Since its establishment PCENS has conducted several national and international training courses focusing on physical protection, personal reliability as well as safety and security of nuclear and radiological materials and facilities.
Earlier on arrival at PCENS, General Raheel Sharif was received by Lieutenant General Mazhar Jamil, Director General Strategic Plans Division.
